Judy brady i want a wife thesis writing

I am A wife. And, not altogether incidentally, I am a mother. Being in that position, Syfers delivers an idea which indicates that women, specifically wives, are expected to implement various kind of responsibilities set by the society when they get home from work. Syfers spoke sarcastically going on and on with the duties that a wife has without mentioning the partner. One of the many themes Syfers expresses in this essay is about the unrealistic demands that are required and desired from a wife.

Judy brady i want a wife thesis writing

Her purpose in her essay is to open the eyes of the general public to the many things wives do that husbands may not fully appreciate. Brady writes in rhetoric to accomplish a sarcastic tone in order to try illustrating what husbands may expect their wives to do for them. She is trying to accomplish a sarcastic tone, but she instead develops a tone of whining that makes the reader less likely to be sympathetic to her situation. If Brady used a more sensible and understanding tone in her essay, it would make her writing seem much less like an attack on all husbands and more like a call for more equality in the family. In Macbeth and Twelfth Night we see the way that Shakespeare upends gender expectations by assigning traditionally masculine characteristics to female characters.
In this essay, Brady tries to have readers believe that all marriages are the same, and that all wives act and live in an identical manner. Although she does makes some agreeable points, this argument has a number of problems. The first problem is that she comes off very confrontational rather that informative.
